Developing Personal, Social & Emotional Skills
One of the main aims for the playgroup is developing their personal, social & emotional skills, ie learning to take turns and share toys, communicating and establishing relationships with peers and adults. This is achieved by learning through play and in the moment planning along with observation. Children learn by example and can develop more quickly in groups of children of a similar age / stage of development, particularly with regard to potty training, eating and social skills.
The playgroup offers a variety of educational resources and activities, to enhance children’s learning and development through play. We also place emphasis on preparing the children for school. Which includes working with the school closely and the reception class teacher to help take the children on their continual journey towards their first year at school. Promoting a smooth and easy transition. The layout of the room, is a calming and spacious. The room consists of different areas, and is set out accordingly. There is a reading corner with a ‘story tree’ and has being made up with crates artificial grass, tree stump like cushions and a cosy chair, along with soft dolls of different cultures, and a variety of welsh and English story books.
