Introduction to Class

I would like to introduce myself as your child’s Year Three teacher for the upcoming school year. We have a great deal of exciting and rich learning opportunities ahead, and with your co-operation I am confident that your child will progress immensely.

During the first term our theme will be based on the Environment and the well-known  ‘Twits’ by Roald Dahl. The book will give us various topic leads such as animals’ habitats, food chains and the study of contrasting localities between Wales and Africa. Your child will learn how to use the internet safely through various ICT projects, and will be encouraged to work independently as well as part of a team.

After Christmas we will be moving on to the ‘The Iron Man’ by Ted Hughes, during the last term our learning opportunities will be based around the fictional adventures of ‘Percy Jackson and the Lightening Thief’, educational visits will also be organised to enhance their learning.

The children will be bringing their reading books home and returning them to school on a daily basis. I ask kindly that you encourage your child to read at any given opportunity as this will develop and support their literacy skills further, and that their reading book and record is returned to school every day.

Our class Teaching Assistant for the year will be Miss Dennis, Miss Rollinson will also be supporting some children during some afternoons.

P.E will be held on a Monday and Wednesday. Please ensure that your child has the          appropriate clothing for indoor and outdoor activities, without it they will not be able to take part in the lesson.

Please feel free to inform me of any relevant information that will benefit your child’s learning and happiness during the year. If you need to contact me for any specific reason, please don’t hesitate to make an appointment through the school secretary.

Best Wishes and thank you in advance for your co-operation,

Miss L A Williams,

Year Three Teacher
