What we are learning:
Autumn Term: Power, Plots and Portraits
From monarchs and mischief to mystery and masterpieces, we hope this topic will spark curiosity and leave the children captivated by the past – though hopefully not plotting to overthrow us just yet! This term promises a wealth of practical, hands-on experiences that will nurture key skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, historical enquiry, and communication. Expect plenty of intrigue, imagination, and inspiration as we explore the power and personalities that shaped history.
Spring Term: Looking Good
A stylish yet thoughtful dive into fashion – exploring identity, culture, sustainability, and the impact of fast fashion. Children will learn how clothes express who we are and how to make smart, responsible choices. This topic encourages critical thinking about the environmental and ethical sides of fashion, inspiring the children to become more conscious consumers. It’s a perfect blend of curiosity, compassion, and creativity – with plenty of opportunities to reflect, design, and take action.
Summer Term: Let Me Entertain You
Lights, camera, action! Children will explore the world of entertainment – from storytelling and music to drama, dance, and digital media – building confidence, teamwork, and imagination along the way. Through hands-on activities, we’ll explore how entertainment has evolved across cultures and time, and how technology continues to shape the way we create and enjoy it. Whether performing, designing, or directing, every child will have a chance to shine.
I look forward to Enquiry Day Fridays which present lots of cross-curricular fun to end the week on a high.
