Class Seren

Teacher Miss Emma Smith
Welcome:
We’re so happy to welcome your child into Dosbarth Seren (Nursery and Reception) this year. My name is Miss Parr and I’ll be working alongside our amazing classroom assistants Mrs Davies and Mrs Roberts (in the mornings).
Please ensure all medical and dietary information is up to date with the office. Pupils will be given log ins to access online interventions using iPads/ laptops/ mobiles/ computers at home should they wish to continue their learning. Reception are sent home with homework on Wednesdays, please can this be completed and brought back on a Monday.
Children welcome to bring in a piece of fruit each day to eat alongside their free milk. Children also each have their own water bottle in class with free access to this during the day.
Key Info: Forest School:
Our forest school sessions will be held each Friday afternoon with Mr Gallagher. Please ensure your child comes into school ready for this session in the correct clothing:
- School jumper or fleece.
- Outdoor shoes/ wellies available for the session (pupils will be given the opportunity to change shoes).
- A warm and waterproof coat.
- Warm hats and gloves (when the weather is cooler).
PE/Outdoor:
Your children will be immersed in a range of exciting and interesting activities both in class and through learning outside the classroom, for this reason, we ask that children come into school prepared for outdoor learning activities by wearing their active uniform and a warm, waterproof coat. The active uniform is also essential for P.E. which is on a Friday Morning. Please ensure that clothing is appropriate for each season, as outdoor learning will be taking place throughout the year come rain, wind or shine (within reason).
What we are learning:
Our topic for this half term is ‘All About Me!’. Throughout this topic, we will be learning all about ourselves, considering what makes us unique and different to others. The children will be engaged in a variety of practical activities related to recognising change, such as different emotions and starting school. We will be looking at different parts of the body, the importance of hygiene and washing our hands, as well as family, the home and what is important to them.
